      This annual Civil War reenactment is held in historic Shippensburg, PA during the last full weekend in June.  Though not a recognized  battlefield, Shippensburg became a staging area for Confederate troops prior to the Battle of Gettysburg.  Residents endured a skirmish and the occupation of the town by 20,000 Confederate troops from June 23-30, 1863 The annual March to Destiny recreates these events of the Civil War Era.  Come and help us keep history alive.

 
 
 
 
    It is the intent to educate and keep Shippensburg's involvement in the Civil War alive. March To Destiny established this annual event in 2001. Visitors to the Cumberland Valley travel from far and wide to enjoy this family friendly event.  Experience a soldier's encampment life.  Explore or schedule of events for more exciting opportunities to hear lectures, period music and witness living history demonstrations.

     This event will be held entirely on the Shippensburg Fairgrounds in 2013.  The looting/foraging by Confederates of Downtown will still occur.  The Civil War Ball and other activities will be postponed until next year in consideration of the redirection of resources to the Gettysburg 150th celebration.   

The March to Destiny reenactment is supported by the Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau, gifts, grants and other donations.  Stay overnight and enjoy the hospitality of the Cumberland Valley.  The March to Destiny committee welcomes you to the 2013 event!
